Teagan Ferris
KPA CTP
ASB Class Trainer
Teagan Ferris developed an early connection to animals, shaped in part by her father’s work as a zookeeper at Brookfield Zoo. From caring for household pets to interacting with exotic animals, her childhood included experiences like feeding a rhino a bagel and spraying Kool-Aid into an orangutan’s mouth. These encounters sparked a lasting interest in animal behavior and the science behind the function of animal behavior.
In 2023, Teagan began her career working with dogs in a daycare environment. Observing canine social dynamics deepened her passion for understanding behavior, body language, and relationship-building between humans and animals. She is a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner and is dedicated to developing effective, positive reinforcement methods that strengthen trust and communication between dogs and their handlers.
As she continues her education, Teagan remains committed to advancing her knowledge and advocating for dogs by helping them build meaningful connections with their families. She is especially passionate about working with first-time pet parents, providing thoughtful guidance and empathetic support to individuals navigating the challenges of raising a young dog.
In her free time, you can find her hiking, painting, scuba diving, or training her 13-year-old Golden Retriever / Great Pyrenees mix, Leia.
