Therapy Dog Prep Class

Therapy dogs can provide comfort, connection, stress relief, and emotional support to people in hospitals, nursing homes, schools, libraries, universities, and other community settings. A calm, friendly visit from a dog can make a meaningful difference in someone’s day.

This class is designed to help handler/dog teams prepare for therapy dog evaluations while also helping you determine whether therapy work is a good fit for your dog.

We’ll practice skills such as calm behavior, polite interactions, handling, and working comfortably around distractions and new people.

The class will primarily cover Pet Partners evaluation requirements, while also touching on requirements for Alliance of Therapy Dogs.

$175. Classes are up to one hour long and meet for five weeks. Class size is limited to six.

Class Requirements:

  • For dogs of any age

  • Dogs should be able to work in close proximity with other dogs and people

  • Vaccines current per your veterinarian

NOTE:  This class is not appropriate for dogs that are working through reactivity issues.
