Focusing on how to reduce reactivity when walking out in the community

Learn how to walk past other dogs, people, cars, by remaining calm and not going to the end of the leash and exploding. We provide a SAFE and well-controlled environment, working both indoors and outdoors, focusing on how to apply the foundation basics* in the “real world” to effectively modify reactive behavior.

• For dogs 6 months of age or older
• Class size limited to FOUR

Requirements --- Must have completed one of the following:

• A basic manners/obedience class OR in-home training with a positive reinforcement trainer/facility
• Any group class program through A Sound Beginning
• Referral by an A Sound Beginning trainer

Classes are one-hour long and meet for four consecutive weeks:

• Time: Mondays at 6pm
• When: Begins May 1st ends on May 22nd

Building Blocks of Behavior Class - 4 Weeks (STF)

Focusing on the foundation skills needed for the life of your dog

This is not an obedience class. What we teach are the basic skills needed in order to help your dog cope in situations that may cause anxiety or fear. We limit the distractions while teaching the foundation basics of behavior modification that are important in everyday life and living in the real world. We provide a safe environment where each class builds upon the prior lessons, but each focuses on different behaviors that build confidence and trust.

• For dogs of any age or health concern
• Class size limited to FOUR

Classes are one-hour long and meet for four consecutive weeks

• Time: Mondays at 7:15pm
• When: Begins May 1 ends May 22

ORANGE Class Focus - On Your MARK, Let's GO (VIRTUAL CLASS)

THIS IS THE CLASS THAT MUST BE TAKEN FIRST. Let’s get started with the first steps on the Path to Success by:

• Using SOUND and SCENT to help provide a calm environment for your dog
• Learning how dogs communicate and how your own body language is interpreted by them
• Using marker based training for a totally positive approach to a healthy learning environment for both you and your dog
• Avoiding conflict - Safely prevent guarding of resources by learning how to handle food, toys, and objects of value
• Using a Safe Place to help your dog comfortably fit in to his new home
• Teaching acceptance of handling and grooming
• Increase good behavior by learning how to capture and reinforce
  • Name Recognition (Attention)
  • Sit (Say Please!)
  • Touch (Management)

Note:  Included with your purchase of the Complete Package you will receive a Clicker set and a Sniff-IT^TM collar attachment to be used in future classes with your dog.

Class will begin promptly so please plan to log in 10 minutes before the class start time.

Puppy Class - 5 Weeks (STF)

 Focusing on GOOD MANNERS every puppy should learn which include

• Polite Greetings, Leash Walking, Come when Called and more!
• Classes are designed to build confidence and resilience in puppies as well as to develop socialization skills.
• We use training games to teach impulse control and basic obedience as well as helping with house training, nipping, and jumping up.
• For pups under 6 months of age
• Class size limited to FIVE

Classes meet for five consecutive weeks:

• Time: Wednesdays at 6pm
• When: Begins May 3rd ends on May 31st
• Where: 204 Dearborn Ct., Unit 101, Geneva, Il
• Trainer: Liz Mishima KPA CTP and Marta Dzundza KPA CTP 
• Fee: $175

Class Requirements:

•  Vaccine requirements - Puppies must have completed 2 sets of shots

Basic Obedience Class - 5 Weeks (STF)

• For dogs 6 months of age or older
• Class size limited to FIVE

 Classes are one-hour long and meet for five consecutive weeks

• Time: Wednesdays at 7pm
• When: Begins May 3 ends May 31

Class Requirements

• Ability to work in close proximity with other dogs and people
• Vaccines current per your veterinarian
